Jai Alai has been played in Cuba for years even since Castro banned it in 1960! The difference is that it has been played as a "true" sport and not as a "betting" sport.
The fronton is near "Cerro Pelao" where most Olympic caliber athletes train.

After Castro truely falls, which is not really what is happening now, I think the country will be in shambles for years to come and there won't exist an atmosphere conducive to pari mutuels.
