Question of the Week #240 - What makes cestas
different?

I don't mean bigger/smaller for back/front. Nor do I mean that
some players might like them a bit longer, wider, deeper, etc.
That's just size preference. But, for example:
Are they sometimes made with a little 'twist' (for want of
a better term)?
More or less resilient bracing (frame) by choice?
Different reeds, for whatever reason?
There must be others.
What I'd really like to know how the cestero, when making up
a batch for a player, is able to reproduce the subtle variations
the player requests, while keeping them all 'identical'. It's
a totally handmade product, after all. Just watching those guys
shaving down frame pieces is awesome!
Yeah, I know. Practice, practice, practice.
